Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2026
Agreement
By creating an account on Latitude Footprint, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.
The service
Latitude Footprint is a carbon tracking tool for film and TV productions. It calculates estimated energy consumption and CO₂e emissions based on equipment wattage data, transport distances, catering types, and other production inputs.
Accounts
- You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your password and account.
- Accounts are for individual use. Enterprise and team accounts are on our roadmap — if you're interested, contact us at hello@latitudefootprint.com.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Free and paid tiers
- Free tier: limited features as described on our pricing page.
- Indie and Pro tiers: paid subscriptions managed by Paddle.
- UK prices shown include 20% VAT. For international purchases, applicable taxes are calculated at checkout by our payment provider, Paddle.
- Subscriptions renew annually unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- Refunds are handled per Paddle's refund policy.
Refunds
Refund period
We offer a 14-day refund period from the date of purchase for Indie and Pro subscriptions. If you are not satisfied, you can request a full refund within 14 days by emailing hello@latitudefootprint.com. After 14 days, subscriptions are non-refundable.
Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your Account page in the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you will retain access until then. No further charges will be made after cancellation. Cancellation does not entitle you to a refund for the current billing period.
How refunds work
All payments and refunds are processed by Paddle, our payment provider. When you request a refund:
- Email hello@latitudefootprint.com with your account email and reason for the refund.
- We will process the refund through Paddle within 5 working days.
- The refund will be returned to your original payment method.
- Processing time depends on your bank (typically 5–10 business days).
Invoices and receipts
Paddle automatically sends a receipt/invoice to your email address for every payment. You can also access past invoices through Paddle's customer portal, linked from your Account page in the app. These invoices include your payment amount, VAT breakdown, and Paddle's details as Merchant of Record — suitable for business expense claims and tax returns.
Data accuracy disclaimer
Please be aware of the following regarding the accuracy of data and calculations within Latitude Footprint:
- Emission factors are sourced from DESNZ 2025 (UK Government Greenhouse Gas Reporting Conversion Factors) and Poore & Nemecek (2018).
- CO₂e calculations are estimates, not certified measurements.
- Reports generated by Latitude Footprint are designed to support (not replace) BAFTA albert carbon reporting.
- We aim to update emission factors when new DESNZ data is published. The factors currently in use and their source year are displayed in the app's Sources & Methodology page.
- Battery watt-hour capacities are from manufacturer specifications; third-party batteries may vary.
- Equipment wattage figures are sourced from available data from manufacturers, and where none is provided, by community testing. Wattage draw can fluctuate depending on multiple factors. Best efforts have been made to provide the most accurate and realistic numbers. We will continue to refine and improve accuracy continuously.
Your data
- Your production data belongs to you.
- You grant us a licence to store and process your data solely to provide the service.
- We do not use your production data for any purpose other than providing the service to you.
- You can export or delete your data at any time via the app.
For full details on how we handle your data, please see our Privacy Policy.
Institution access
- If your university or film school has arranged group access, additional terms may apply as agreed between us and the institution.
- Institution access codes are non-transferable and may only be used by eligible members of that institution.
- Misuse of institution codes (including sharing codes with non-members) may result in access revocation.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any illegal purposes.
- Attempt to bypass subscription tier restrictions or access features you have not paid for.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application. (Note: as a web application, source code is visible in the browser. This clause prohibits copying, redistributing, or commercially exploiting the code.)
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits or tier restrictions.
Intellectual property
- The Latitude Footprint application, user interface design, and curated equipment database are our original work and protected by copyright. The emission factors used are sourced from UK Government (DESNZ) data published under the Open Government Licence and from peer-reviewed academic research (Poore & Nemecek 2018). The BAFTA albert carbon calculator is a separate product — Latitude Footprint is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by BAFTA or albert.
- You may not copy, redistribute, or commercially exploit the application or its underlying data.
- Reports you generate using the service are yours to use as you wish, including for submission to BAFTA albert or other reporting frameworks.
BAFTA albert disclaimer
Latitude Footprint is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by BAFTA, albert, or any broadcaster. References to albert throughout the application indicate compatibility with albert's reporting categories, not official partnership or certification. BAFTA and albert are trademarks of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
Limitation of liability
- The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
- We are not liable for inaccurate emission calculations or their consequences.
- We are not liable for data loss (including loss of localStorage data due to browser clearing, device changes, or service interruptions), though we take reasonable precautions to protect your data.
- Our total liability to you is limited to the fees you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim. (This means if you have a valid legal claim against us, the maximum compensation is limited to what you paid for the service in the preceding year.)
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death, personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud.
Termination
- You can delete your account at any time via the app or by contacting us.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
- On termination, your data is deleted after 30 days, or immediately on request.
Governing law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
